Our first trip to Goodwill and Homeless shelter and it looks insane. I can’t believe I have been able to get ride of all this stuff.
I have been downsizing for the past three weeks and the whole back seat and trunk is full of stuff.
Here are a couple of things that I have learned while doing this process just for 9 downsizing days.
1. As you know i have been doing the downsizing for three weeks so I have had several bags of items already packed up. Even if you clean, purge or downsize your home in a weekend, I highly recommend that you put your collection of item out of site for a week or two and just make sure you didn’t get caught up in the moment and dispose of something that you really need. After two weeks and you have not needed anything out of the bag, I think it will be safe to take out of the house.
2. Take emotion out of things and look at it realistic. If you have 12 blankets and only 3 beds…. Why do you need that many. The blankets might have a name monogrammed on it or you might have a favorite sports team blanket, they are all still just a blanket and just taking up room. Keep 2 blankets per bed and get rid of the rest. Share with someone that is in need.
It feels so good to have these bags out of my home. Literally at least 30 pounds of stuff has been removed from my home. Too bad loosing weight is not that easy.
As you can see, I am not downsizing every day. But counting the days that I spend. We still have several days to get to 31 and believe me…. It is going to take all 31 days.
