Stockpiling is a great way to save money in the long run. That statement is so true but if we are not careful, it also will cost us money. If you stockpile 12 cans of mushrooms and no one in your house likes mushrooms, then that was a waist of money. Don’t get over excited about a deal if the deal is not something that you can’t or won’t use.
Take some time and look at your family eating likes and dislikes. Look at recipes that you cook often. Start making a list of the items that you use regularly. This is the list that you will want to stockpile. You will stockpile some items that you use less frequently but make it a rule to not purchase an item that you will not use, even if it is an awesome deal. (now I will say, if it is free, then get it and donate it to a food pantry)
When making your stockpile list, group them in categories to where they are easy to find. Grains, cereals, toiletries etc. Here is a good starting list that you can use as an example. Click here.
Saving money with coupons is great and addictive but it also can be non frugal if you are not careful and you just start buying because it is a good deal. Good deals turn bad when they sit on your shelf and expire and never used.
