I have learned that if I don’t have something quick and easy in the morning, I am not going to take time and make breakfast.  So I try to plan ahead.

I have come across this recipe for sausage, egg & cheese breakfast burritos that are wonderful to freeze and eat and so easy to make.

I make two batches when I make these and it will make 15 breakfast burritos.

What you will need:

• 2 rolls of sausage.  (I use the mild but I have heard the hot sausage is great.)
• 2 -  8 count flour tortilla.
• 12 eggs
• 3 cups of casserole cheese
• Salt & Pepper to taste.

I make mine pretty plain but you could add, mushrooms, green peppers, chilies, etc.

When you take these out of the freezer, you can pop it into the microwave for about 1 1/2 minutes until warm all the way through.  You will be able to tell if it is warm by the softness of the burrito.

I did a rough estimate of how much it cost to do this. It was right at $14.56 for the total batch.  I made 15 burritos.  I could have gotten a couple of more but we like ours really full.   These are .97 cents each.

This is much cheaper than going through a drive through on the way to work and I think they taste better than the fast food version.

If you have been reading my site lately, you would have read the post I did the other day on Matthew 6 and how stockpiling is Biblical.  I ran across this great Pinterest idea that is a Blessings Bag .  I absolutely love this idea.

You can fill your quart size or gallon size bags with items that you got for FREE.  What a great way to bless others and it not cost you nothing but the cost of the plastic bag.

I don’t go a day with out seeing someone walking on the side of the street that I know is homeless or in great need.   In Matthew 6 it says ² “So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. ³ But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,⁴ so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

What a strong passage.  I want to be pleasing to the Lord.  I want my reward to come from the Heavenly Father and not men.  And I see in this scripture it doesn’t say, if you give to the needy, it says WHEN you give to the needy.  This is a command from our Father.

What a great idea to use your stockpile to give to the needy.

The other day, I posted about our daughter’s adventure of creating a patio garden.   It was so much fun to spend the evening with her getting it set up.  I wanted to continue sharing with the “how to” of creating this vertical garden.

From the last post you saw that we went to Home Depot and got all the stuff.  That was fun.  We headed back to her apartment and started putting it all together.

•  We had to prepare the wood pallet.  Sanding, sanding and more sanding.  Sand the edges to where you don’t get splinters in your hands while you are caring for your garden.
• 
• Cover the back side of the pallet with the landscaping fabric.  We put two layers on the back of it to secure the back.  {hint, choose which side will be standing up and put the top part of the fabric on first. That way the dirt doesn’t fall through the cracks. }
• Lay the pallet down to where all you have to do is lift the one side and slide it up to a vertical position.

• Fill the pallet with dirt.  We used a mixture of garden soil and miracle grow soil.  Pack it in and fill up every corner.
• Layout your plants on the pallet to plan out how to plant them.  We put the plants that vine toward the bottom and the plants that bush in the middle and top.
• Plant the plants according to the directions on the tags.  Make sure you allow the allotted amount of space between each plant.
• Water really well.  {hint: you will need to water this in the morning and in the evening because it will drain and dry out quickly. }

This is how the garden looked the next morning.  As you can see we also planted some flowers and herbs in pots too.

The vertical garden needs to lay flat for 2 weeks to let the roots set and the dirt to set also.  Be careful with raising the garden.  It will take 2-3 people to do it.

The past two weeks our small group at church has been studying Matthew 6.  We have walked through these scriptures verse by verse.  I have read this chapter many times over but during this time of study, it has spoke to me and challenged me in areas of my life.  I wanted to share some of my thoughts with you.

The scriptures talk about in verse 19-21 (¹⁹ “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. ²⁰ But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven,where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. ²¹ For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. ”   ) I feel like through out my life I have tried to follow through with this verse.  I don’t desire large homes, cars, clothes and stuff.  I have always felt uncomfortable with having these things and knowing this is my temporary home.  

But what has been chewing at me over the past two weeks is more of what I do see as important.  My money saving methods.  Stockpiling is one of them.  Before you get scared that I am going to say stockpiling is wrong, keep reading.  I promise you, I am not going to claim that.

What I have had to evaluate over the past couple of weeks is how much I value it and stress over it and also not use it / or plan to use it to minister to others for Glory to God.  Here are some points that I have come to that I feel is right for me and lines up with scripture.

• Stockpiling is not wrong, it is wise.
• As a Christian, I am able to use my stockpile to bless others.  I have a resource available to me to build a care package or cook a meal quickly to bless others.
• Stockpiling allows me to not spend as much on my grocery budget and I am able to use that money that could have been spent on food to invest in others.  A need for food, a need for housing, gas, diapers, etc.
• Stockpiling is wrong for me when I stress over the supply getting low.
• Stockpiling is wrong for me when I start to brag about the size and quality of my stockpile.
• Stockpiling is wrong for me when I start to depend on it for safety and not the provision that the Lord has for me. Matthew 6 : 31 – 34 Tells us…”³¹ So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ ³² For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.³³ But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. ³⁴ Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

My daughter lives in an apartment and wanted to have a balcony /patio garden for the summer.  We enjoyed the evening helping her build her garden.  Over the next few days I will share with you the process she did to make her patio garden.
She chose to use the pallet method for her garden. I had seen this on Pinterest and was excited to hear that is what she was going to use.

We headed to Home Depot to pick up the supplies.
1.  Moisture retention garden soil (5 bags)
2. Tomato plants , herbs, bell pepper plants, strawberry plants and flowers.
3. Cage for the tomatoes.
4. Plastic (weed blocker)for the back of the palett.
5. U shaped nails

We spent the evening putting the plastic on the back of the pallet and filling the containers with dirt. But that is all for tomorrow’s post.

Even if you live in an apartment. You too can have a garden of fresh veggies.
