Do you know the saying, there is a method to the madness? Well that holds true to buying your groceries and using coupons. There is a methods and if someone is watching you they might think it is a little crazy or mad. When someone sees your grocery cart and they see 5 packs of boneless chicken breast and 15 boxes of Mac and Cheese, they might think you are feeding an army or crazy, but you know that you are buying your groceries while they are on sale at their lowest price with using your coupons. This is called stockpiling which is not crazy but very wise with your families money.
Here a a few secrets that help get your groceries cheaper.
Try not to skip a week of shopping. This was the hardest one for me. I use to shop only once a month and then just pick up milk and bread as we needed it. If you skip a week, you are going to miss out on the sales for that week that enables you to get groceries at rock bottom prices. You don’t have to do a large shop each week but still check the sale papers and make sure you are getting your stock up items as they come on sale.
Make a list of your items that you need and use on a regular basis. If you have a stockup list, you will know instantly by looking at that list if you need something on sale that week or not. This takes away the impulse buying inwhich I needed.
Don’t be brand loyal. I know peanut butter is one item that people are brand loyal. My suggestion to this, broaden your loyalty to two or three brands if you can’t embrase any brand. Altleast get your loyalty broader. Some will argue that one can of green beans is better than the other. I tend to think that if you have had a bad experience with a certain can of beans, it is usually just that can and give that brand a try again. Especially if you can get the can for pennies or even free.
If your sale price is at the best price or lowest price, buy at least 8 weeks worth if you can. Sales rotate and usually the bottom /lowest price won’t come back around for another 6-8 weeks.
These are just a few secrets / methods that I use to keep my grocery bill down. Adopted them if you can and share with us how it affected your grocery bill in the weeks to come.
