Frugal Family Fun Friday 1.29.10

Are you blessed to be in one of the state that is getting hit with the snow?  We are going to get the snow this evening it sounds like.  I am so ready for a HUGE snow. One that makes us all stop and stay in the house and not leave.  Our family needs a break, a break from the outside world.  With all the snow coming across the United States, it made me think about things that you can do at home and enjoy with your family.

  • Board games.  Wipe off the dust on top of that board game and pull it out.  Monopoly would be a great game to play if you are at home for a while.  Set it up on a table that can stay up for a while.  As you know Monopoly can take a while to play so put in somewhere that you can leave it up and you can take breaks from the game.
  • Wii.  This is a new video system to our family so we love playing it.  Have a Wii olympics. You don’t have to have a certain game for this.  Just take the games that you have and make them events.  Award prizes to the 1st, 2nd place winners.  Small prizes such as a candy bar, cookie or even a paper chain made from construction paper.
  • Sledding . Find a hill and enjoy the afternoon.  You can sled on about anything but be sure to bundle up and stay warm and have the hot chocolate ready for when you come back in.
  • Build an Igloo.  That is right, build an igloo.  I have a friend in North Carolina that got hit with a huge snow storm a few weeks back and her family built an igloo on the deck of their home.  Isn’t that a cool idea?  I love it.  I researched how to build one. Click here to see instructions.  I think this would be a cool idea to do with your family.

Enjoy this weather with  your family. Make the most of it and make a memory.
