We had a trial version of Microsoft Office on my netbook and it ran out. I looked at getting Microsoft Office for my netbook but with the price and also wanting to keep my used memory at a low on the netbook, I started looking at alternatives.
I have played with Google Docs for different surveys that I have done on the site but really never have used the Document side of it. I was suprised at the ease and quality that it has. I should not be suprised because I know if it is done by Google then it is pretty thought through but I guess I am so use to Microsoft Office.
Google docs has a spreadsheet & word document program. Both move and feel like Microsoft Office. You can even do presentations with Google Docs. (like Powerpoint)
Another plus that I like about this is you don’t store the documents on your computer, you use Google servers. They are completely safe and secure. When you create a document, you can choose if you want to share it with someone. You can enter the email addresss of the person in and it will send them the document and you have the choice of allowing them to just view it or be able to change or add to it. You can also set a security on who can view the documents world wide. If you want this to be a public document, you can set it for the world to see it (via web search or you can have it private to where no one but you & the ones you choose can see it.
Any where I am in the world that I have internet access to, I can get to my documents. I don’t have to carry a USB drive, all have to do is log onto Google Docs and there is my work. I think that is great.
