Grocery Savings and Online Shopping 1.26.10

by A Thrifty Geek on 01/26/2010

Saving money is so hard when you live in an instant society.  As I have written, Gregg and I made a New Years Resolution that affected our budget, we don’t eat out as much anylonger.  I won’t say we don’t eat out at all because that would be a lie, but we had got to the point we were eating out more than we were eating at home.  Especially during basketball season.

So with cooking at home more, I have kicked myself back into gear with coupons and also shopping online for better deals.
I went to Kroger last Friday evening at 9:30 p.m. (love shopping then because no one is in the store!)  I had my coupons in hand and ready to see some deals rolling down the checkout lane.   My total before taxes was $338.72  (YIKS!!)   but after my wonderful coupons and the patient cashier, my total was $142.22.  That is $196.50 in savings!  I still think that $142.22 was high because I don’t want to spend that a week, but I had not grocery shopped in 2 weeks because of basketball games, church, family, job, etc so I had a lot to stock up on. I was even out of potatoes.(never seen a coupon for that)

Read my post here from last week to get sites that you can print coupons off on and also visit my side bar and get your coupons there.  I love the coupons on my side bar.  You can use different area codes to get different coupons too!   I love doing my area code and then one in California.

Grocery shopping with coupons is the biggest savings that you can bring to your home for week to week.  There is so many coupons out there that you can use and you just need to clip and use them.
